Students Honored As Part Of Anti-Bullying Contest
South Broward High School students were recently honored for winning an anti-bullying contest sponsored by the school district and the United Way of Broward County. The Hollywood school's contest entry logo for "Dare to Care" was selected, and they produced a video focusing on the effects of cyberbullying.

Students Take Part In National Public Lands Day Project
The drive along a stretch of Griffin Road will be a bit greener with the additionof new flowers planted by volunteers from Cooper City and Davie…Students from Cooper City High School's SITE (Students Improving the Environment) club assembled 1,500 seed balls consisting of dried seed, clay and worm casings, which were added to a 100-foot stretch of ground on the Griffin Road side. When the seedballs are hit by rain, the clay will become wet and help germinate the seed while providing fertilizer.

Meeting Helps DefuseTension Over School Buses
Tensions between Fort Lauderdale High School and nearby neighbors seem on the way toward resolution following a meeting between the two sides last week.  The noisy meeting involved city officials, Broward County School Board officials and residents of the Middle River Terrace neighborhood. About 100 people gathered in an auditorium inside the school's main building recently to air grievances over noise and parking.

One For The Books: Community Leaders Honor Arts Excellence At 'Broward County Arts Teacher Of The Year'
Broward County will celebrate leaders in arts excellence on Oct. 24 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for the 2012 "Broward County Arts Teacher of the Year" event.  An art exhibition will welcome guests at 5 p.m. and the winner will be announced during the presentation, which begins at 6 p.m., followed by a reception at 7 p.m.

Robots Invade West Broward High School For Mission Mayhem
Robots from around Florida will invade West Broward High School on Saturday, October 27, 2012, to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition – Mission Mayhem. West Broward High will host the Rebound Rumble competition from 8:30 a.m.– 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. West Broward High School is located at 500 NW 209th Avenue, Pembroke Pines.

Broward Continues Making Strides Toward Fixing Bus Fiasco
Broward school officials say they are making steady progress to mend the transportation mess that marred the start of the school year. Jeffrey Moquin, who oversees the transportation department, said the district has hired 64 drivers since school started and will continue recruiting. The first couple weeks of school were plagued by a disastrous bus service that left students stranded and parents outraged. Drivers arrived late to pick up children or failed to show up at all. District officials attributed the problem to a shortage of drivers.
