SAF Meeting Date Rescheduled
SAF Members, Community, Parents, Administration,
Please be informed that the Tamarac Elementary School Advisory Forum (SAF) meeting originally set for this week Tuesday, December 13th at Tamarac Media Center following this month’s SAC meeting, has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.
A Steering Committee meeting with the SAF Board members will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 6PM ET – Tamarac Elementary School Cafeteria to prepare for the upcoming January SAF meetings and consolidate the parent input received to date. This will be a non-voting meeting, parents who wish to provide additional feedback are welcome to join us and or send feedback to the tamaracelementarySAF@hotmail.com e-mail account.
Tamarac Elementary SAF will reconvene on Monday, January 3rd at Tamarac Media Center.

Family Movie Night

Uniforms Are Here!!!!
Uniforms are in and orders have been filled. They will be placed in the teacher's boxes on Monday, so please be on the lookout for them either Monday or Tuesday. We do currently have 4 uniform orders of Adult medium and large sizes that are still on backorder. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We apologize for the delay in receiving your orders, however, we do appreciate your patience while we worked to resolve this issue. Thank you for supporting PTA, together we are making a difference!

Cookie Dough, Pretzel and Frozen Food Pick Up
Tuesday, November 8th, will be the last opportunity to pick up all frozen cookie dough, pretzels and frozen foods. Pick up will be ONLY from 4-6pm on that day, no exceptions, so please plan accordingly. Any unclaimed frozen items will be donated and NO REFUNDS will be issued. The fundraising company, school and PTA will not be responsible for any unclaimed frozen items as this is now the second notice and multiple notifications via the parent link, written notices and postings on the PTA website have been made. Thank you for your support.

Fall Fundraiser Update
As you are probably aware, parts of the Fall Fundraiser were sent home with your child last week. The candles and cookie dough (and other frozen foods) will be available for pickup at Tamarac Elementary School on Wednesday November 2nd from 4 - 6:30pm.
If there are any issues with your orders, please send us an e-mail or written note with the incorrect items and what should have been received so we can research (we will take not phone calls). It is strongly suggested that you use the enclosed packing slip. Do not forget to make a copy for your records.

"Drop Off in Front Office" Procedure Change
Effective Monday, October 31, the front office will longer be accepting items such as homework and field trip money and forms that children should be responsible for bringing to school with them. The only exception will be lunch or lunch money. Please work with us to help your child develop the skills to be responsible students by encouraging them to bring with them the things they need for school each day.

Volunteer Orientation 9/9 at 9:15 am

PTA Voicemail and Fundraising Updates
We know that some of you have left messages on the PTA voicemail and are getting frustrated because you have not received a returned call. We do not have access to the voicemail but have requested a password so we can retrieve messages.Until this situation has been resolved, we ask that you e-mail your messages to tamaracelementarypta@hotmail.com or send a note in with your child. The number can be found on the report card jacket from the last report card of the year. We will also provide those numbers to the teachers today and are asking them to place in the children's planners. Please check the planner before contacting the school!

Amazing PTA Meeting
Thanks to all of you that attended our first PTA Meeting of the year last night. We had an amazing turnout. We hope that you found all the information presented to be helpful and will continue to attend meetings throughout the year.
Due to policy changes within the Broward School District, the PTA Board had to be revised. The new board was voted in last night:
We have several committees that need volunteers to assist with the planning and execution of these events. The committees are as follows:
PTA Membership Cards will be sent out very soon. We are awaiting the delivery of Discount Cards that are given to all PTA Members.
Today kicked off our fall fundraiser. The students attended an assembly this morning and were given a fundraiser packet. Please be on the lookout for the packet!!
We thank you for all of your help, assistance and patience in making the first weeks of school a success!

Dismissal
First rule of pickup at Tamarac Elementary School, bring your patience!
It is very important to remember which dismissal procedure you selected for your child. If he/she is a car rider, make sure you stay in your car and pick him/her up at the designated spot. Do not park and walk onto campus!
North Side Tips - Do not walk in the parking lot or along the sidewalk from the apartments or medical plaza. There is not enough room for both cars and people and this makes for a very dangerous situation.
South Side Tips - Parents picking up walkers must stay behind the fence by the overpass. All South Side walkers will be released at this location. Notify a staff member if you are unable to locate your child but please remain behind the fence. Parents are not to be on campus unless they are visiting the office!
Car Riders: Please place a piece of paper with your child's name and grade and place in a visible spot on your dashboard. This will speed up the pickup process!

It's The First Day of School
We want to wish everyone a happy and stress free first day of school. Please make sure you bring your patience this week, especially during drop off and pickup. We have many new parents who are not aware of how these things work so we ask that some of you seasoned pros help them out. Don't forget, you were once a newbie too!
PTA is currently accepting PTA memberships and Uniform Orders. Uniforms can be purchased on-line. We are also in need of volunteers for various activities throughout the year. Please refer to the letter in the green first day folder for more information or send us an e-mail at tamaracelementarypta@hotmail.com or through our Facebook page Tamarac Elementary PTA.
Your children are in great hands so try not to worry about them while they are at school. A couple of tips for a fantastic year: ask them specific questions about their day every day and create a relationship with their teacher(s).

Tamarac Elementary Meet and Greet
Come out and learn the lay of the land! Your child can find their classroom in preparation for the first day of school. You can purchase uniforms, join the PTA and visit with several local businesses.
Pre-K and Kindergarten will be held from 9:30 pm - 10:00 am.
Grades 1-5 will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
